There are a lot of things to consider when choosing what materials bathroom floors should be made of and what style should these floors carry. Here is where questions on durability, style (or the way it looks with the rest of the fixtures of the bathroom), and comfort come in.
There is, however, one main consideration for bathroom floors. That is, of course, the moisture.
Here are the seven bathroom floorings options to consider, arranged from worst to best:
1. Carpets
Carpets and moisture do not mix well together hence carpets are horrible choices for the bathroom floors to be made of. But if you insist on using carpets for the flooring of your bathroom, it is best to get advice or guide from the professionals who install bathroom carpets.
2. Hardwood (particularly the solid ones)
Although a better choice than that of carpets and hardwood may feel better under the feet and may even look great, consider that moistures ruin solid hardwood made bathroom floors. To avoid destroying the solid hardwood bathroom floor from being destroyed by moisture, make sure that it is installed properly—free from gaps for moisture to penetrate.
3. Laminated floors
Laminate floors for the bathroom are surprisingly a better choice over carpets and solid hardwood-made floors. And ‘surprisingly’ because laminate floors is nothing more than the resin-impregnated paper on top of a base made of wood chip. It is much more stylish than that of hardwood and carpets, too, because it can make use of oak, cherry, slate, marble, and so on, for the so-called “wear layer” of the bathroom floor. This is better than the other three options because moisture finds it difficult to penetrate through this kind of bathroom flooring.
4. Wood (Engineered)
What makes engineered wood a good choice for bathroom floors is that it is made of plywood with which moisture finds it difficult to penetrate through it. If you want your bathroom floor to look and feel the way authentic wood does, engineered wood is the best option for you.
5. Stone
Stone is, by far, the most expensive of the choices mentioned. However, it deserves the fifth place because stone bathroom floorings do not permit any moisture to come in and destroy it much like solid hardwood does.
You can choose from marble, granite, limestone and other stone flooring choices offered by firms.
The two best choices for the bathroom floors are tile vinyl or sheet and ceramic tiles. Many people go for vinyl because vinyl is easy to install and may be done on your own. There are lots of styles and designs to check out in the market.
